Role Definitions

Assessment Editor

• Purpose: Create and edit NCAP vehicle safety assessments
• Scope: Assessment workflow only (Draft and Re-Edit stages)
• Principle: Can author content but cannot approve, publish, or govern

Assessment Reviewer

• Purpose: Quality-check assessments before publication
• Scope: Assessment review workflow only (Under Review stage)
• Principle: Can approve or return assessments but cannot create from scratch or publish

CMS Manager

• Purpose: Manage public-facing website content (pages, media)
• Scope: Website Manager section only — zero assessment access
• Principle: Content management is fully separated from assessment workflow

Note

CMS Manager is an assignable permission, not a dedicated user type. Any user can be granted this role.

Admin

• Purpose: Governance — publish assessments, manage users, oversee website
• Scope: Assessment publishing, user management, website manager
• Principle: Can govern but cannot configure the system itself

Super Admin

• Purpose: Full system control
• Scope: Everything — including system config, monitoring, audit logs, dangerous actions
• Principle: The only role that can perform irreversible or system-level operations

Guest

• Purpose: Read-only observation
• Scope: View dashboard and assessment list only — no actions
• Principle: Can see but cannot touch anything
